Coach Bio: Lonnie Bullock, New Church Specialties Executive Director. Lonnie has been a pastor serving as youth pastor, associate pastor and lead pastor for 28 years in Michigan and Indiana. He successfully led the last church he served in Munster, IN through the ReFocusing process two times during his 10 year tenure. The church moved toward increased health during each refocus in remarkable ways and the attendance increased from 125 – 300.
For two years he served as the Mission Development director for the Northwest Indiana District Church of the Nazarene overseeing the efforts of the district in Refocusing, Restarting and planting new churches.
Lonnie joined the staff of NCS as a Senior Consultant is 2000. In December 2010 he was selected to become the executive direction of NCS after serving for several years as the Chief Operations Officer. His areas of specialties include Church Health, Strategic Planning, Assessments (church and individual), Coaching NewStarts, ReFocusing and ReStarts. He has trained thousands of pastors and church leaders in implementing church health strategies and ReFocusing.
He has personally coached over 125 pastors through the NewStart, ReFocus and ReStart process and worked with dozens of judicatories and denominations in the area of assessment and development of action plans to move into God’s future. He has extensive training and skill in doing behavioral interviewing assessments and church assessments. He oversees the assessment training events for NCS. He works with several judicatories/districts helping them develop strategies for implementing a church health multiplication movement. NCS has worked with over 2000 congregations in the area of church health with a focus on developing strategy to move to increased health.
He is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a BA in Theology and a Master’s Degree from Olivet in Counseling. He is also a graduate of the Church of the Nazarene’s School of Large Church Management.
He and his wife Karen live in Mesa, AZ. Karen works for NCS as an administrative assistant. Lonnie and Karen have two daughters. Their oldest daughter Kristie lives in Arizona and works for NCS in the area of assessments. She is also the mother of their grandson Colin. Their youngest daughter, Kasie is married and living in Meridian, ID with their granddaughter and three grandsons.

Coach Bio: Gary Diehl was introduced to the dynamics of what a healthy local church looks like through the Natural Church Development in 1998 while serving as his home church's site coordinator during an “Integrated
Planning” consultation. Gary joined the Living Stones Associates team in 2001 and began consulting with churches out of a growing conviction that many congregations need comprehensive, biblically grounded guidance to become healthy and effective in our rapidly changing world. He was trained and certified with NCD in 2002 and recertified by NCD America and NCD International in 2019.
During his 35+year career in the business world, Gary sharpened his skills in problem solving, leadership dynamics, team development, project management, and strategic planning which he now uses to coach,

Coach Bio: Carl Shank has been a licensed natural church development (NCD) consultant since its inception to the United States in 1998. He has had advanced NCD training along with other consultant development. In addition to his M.Div. and Th.M. (systematic theology) work, Carl has been a youth, associate, solo, and lead pastor in his 40 years of church ministry, pastoring beginning and established congregations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and New York state. He has served with Reformed Baptist, Orthodox Presbyterian and Brethren in Christ congregations and denominational groups. This wide breadth of theological and pastoral experience has helped him discern needs and problems and work with many different kinds of environments and church people. This experience culminated in his serving as a Field Associate focusing on church health for the Brethren in Christ Church in three of their five national conferences.
Carl's organizational business experience comes from a number of years working with the Chamber of Commerce board and committees of Mount Joy, PA. He served as Vice-President of that board through 2014 and has been integrally involved in that organization's health and progress.
Carl has effectively worked with over 130 congregations from a number of
denominational affiliations, including Brethren in Christ, Church of the Brethren, Independent, Evangelical Free, Baptist, Church of God and Bible Fellowship churches. He has mentored numerous pastors, taught in a number of local Bible institutes as well as serving as an adjunct faculty member of The King’s College, trained InterVarsity leaders on the East Coast and has been regularly sought out for his acknowledged gifts of discernment and wisdom in dealing with church issues.
