General vice president Thomas Lemon will retire in 2027. The General Conference (GC) Executive Committee voted to elect Remmers, and he will take on his new responsibilities immediately. Remmers brings more than three decades of pastoral ministry and administrative leadership to the role, having served the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the local church, conference, union, and division levels. Most recently, he has served since January 1, 2022, as assistant to the president of the North American Division (NAD).   ... The Biblical Research Institute (BRI) held the Conference with scholars from Andrews University and the Ellen G. White Estate. Church elders and members were invited to attend the first two days, while pastors from all three countries attended the final two days. During the Lake Union’s “Unbreakable” Pathfinder Camporee, held Sept. 24 to 27 at the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, leaders announced Whitehead’s retirement after more than four decades of ministry devoted largely to children, youth and young adults.  ... Whitehead has served Lake Union youth ministries since 1996. When he began the five-year Architecture Program, his motivations were considerably more practical. “I was doing architecture more for the money at first,” Djordjevic admits. For him, this ordination service was a way to celebrate every important person and moment that has contributed to his journey and the way God used them. ... His loving and service-oriented church community, as well as his parents, were also major influences. “Most Korean Americans go through the pressure of having to find a job that gives you a lot of money and stability, usually pre-med, pre-vet, or law,” said Chung. His father never pressured him to go these routes, telling Chung that the most important thing in life was to serve God.
